Key aspects of the Use of Force Continuum in Texas:
The initial step involves the officer's physical presence and professional demeanor, aiming to de-escalate a situation.
Officers use verbal commands, instructions, and de-escalation techniques to resolve the situation.
Techniques like pressure points or wrist holds are used to restrain a person without causing harm.
This involves using more forceful techniques like strikes, kicks, or takedowns.
Officers may use weapons like tasers or batons if verbal commands and physical control are insufficient.
This is the ultimate measure, used when an officer or others are in imminent danger of serious bodily harm or death.
